Love IS the Best Medicine

"Many studies show that giving or receiving love causes biological changes in the body. For example, if you are watching a program showing Mother Teresa's interaction with children who have leprosy, and the way she hugs and kisses them, just watching that program will increase the production of certain substances in your system that fight cancer and infection. Simply observing Mother Teresa's loving behavior is healing; that's a biological fact. When women who have breast cancer meet together to support and care for one another, their condition usually improves. Studies of children with hormonal disorders have shown that if you love them and touch them, if you offer them emotional support in a nourishing environment, they get better. That's how love heals. I believe that love not only heals, it actually renews your physiology, and slows down the aging process. We have found that for men who believe
they are loved by their wives there is a huge difference in coronary cases. A sense of security comes from feeling loved which is profoundly beneficial to a person's health and well-being."
